al dente!

zomg! it's caturday~

as mentioned in my previous blog, one of the things i'll be doing while B's away is to spend bonding time my bestest friends.

known them since we were in high school (and some, back in elementary), i practically treat them as my sisters (since i don't have one. boo-hoo!).

when i say bonding time, this usually equates to let's-cook-pasta-while-watching-random-movies-and-trashing-the-host's-room or let's-dress-up-something-weird-and-be-narcissistic-while-cooking-the-pasta.

yes, we're pasta addicts.

pasta with chicken strips in white sauce. pasta with roasted green pepper and tuna flakes. pasta in butter, toasted garlic and cheese. baked pasta. pasta in red sauce. pasta and shredded cheese (yes folks, aka budget-constraint pasta).

despite all those pastas i've mentioned above, we usually end up cooking the good ole` spaghetti paired with toasted garlic bread (forced to good, i say) on common bonding days.

istapegi~

GOOD OLE` SPAGHETTI

ingredients:

spaghetti (you may use macaroni, linguine, fusili, penne, etc. whatever's available.)
ground meat (i prefer beef)
oil
garlic
onion
ripe tomatoes
tomato sauce/ spaghetti sauce
liver spread
salted butter
salt
freshly ground pepper
sugar (optional)
vinegar (optional)

1. boil pasta noodles according to the package instructions. if you are using fresh pasta, it usually cooks shorter compared to the dried and pre-made. When cooked, drain the pasta in colander and add few tablespoon of olive oil or butter to refrain from sticking.

2. in a large saucepan, heat oil then add ground meat and garlic. when garlic is slightly brown, add onion and tomatoes. when slicing the onion and garlic, i usually minced them so they wouldn't be picked out.

3. when meat is seared enough (depends on your judgement. i usually burned the meat a little to give a little meaty taste on the sauce. or so what the chef on tv told me. hahaha.), add tomato sauce while scraping the left-over burned meat on the pan. add water.

4. when the sauce starts to simmer, add liver spread and mix.

5. add salt, pepper, sugar and vinegar to flavor. add to pasta, sprinkle cheese (parmesan and quickmelt cheese!!!) and serve.
